Hey, it's Chad here...

Today I woke up, walked downstairs to my office with a cup of coffee in my hand and started writing. 

The work I do is fulfilling. My business is growing by 50% every year like clockwork. I travel. I hike, hunt, and I live. Sometimes I have to pinch myself, is this really real? Especially when you consider where I was only 7 years ago...

One morning 7 years ago I was hit with the reality that I was a complete fraud...

...Everything I said I'd do, the man I said I'd become, the life I said I'd build, even the house I said I'd buy, it was all a lie.

Here I was, living in a horrible part of town, in a rough apartment, with ZERO dollars in my bank account, and a body that was getting fatter, weaker, and rounder.

All of my dreams, goals, and aspirations were lost. I was wandering, but I was also just trying to survive. 

My goals went from building my dream house to finding a way to pay rent this month.

What follows will be brief, but it will be important.

You won't find whimsical motivational quotes or inspirational fables. I was a wanderer. I was failing. I was morphing into something I never, ever thought was in my story...
AVERAGE.
I was living far beneath my potential, far beneath who I knew I was created to become, but I couldn't break free from the trap of mediocrity that I'd slid into.

I read every motivational, self-help book you can find. I spent money on coaches, tried to figure out how the hell I could get out of this financial, spiritual, and physical hole.

But nothing worked. 

Nothing ever works. These books are designed to inspire us. Humans like to be inspired, but few of them actually give us the practical action-steps we need to turn things around and THRIVE.

You don't have to be as low as I was...

You can be doing fine, but fine isn't why you're here. To me, 'fine' is a sin. It's a slap in the face of our potential, our parents, our Maker, and anyone else who's sacrificed anything to get us here, to give us the opportunities we have.
NO MAN IS BORN TO BE AVERAGE. AVERAGE IS THE ENEMY OF US ALL. BUT FROM BIRTH THAT'S PRIMARILY WHAT WE'RE TAUGHT TO BE.
We're taught to fall in line. We're taught to be soft, to rehearse, to regurgitate the information put in front of us.

We're not taught to be great, nor to even really know what that means. 

I needed to wake up one day and realize that I was what I thought I'd never become, average. I needed to feel the pain of mediocrity, to feel like I'd let everyone down. I needed the depths to understand how to reach my heights.

After I stopped reading self-help books because they're just nonsense, I turned to history. I studied James Cook, a guy born into mediocrity in a time when men didn't and couldn't rise from the class in which they were born, but did so anyway.

I studied the stoics, masters of controlling what we can and leaving what we can't - a fundamental flaw, a missing piece in our modern society where we're trained to focus more on what we can't control than what we can.

I studied Benjamin Franklin, and it's Franklin that showed me my path to becoming the man and creating the life.
WHO YOU DREAM ABOUT BECOMING IS DEPENDENT ON THE VIRTUES YOU LIFE BY.
If you don't know about Benjamin Franklin's story, he was a guy who wanted to be successful, wealthy, and powerful, but he wasn't born into either of the above.

He did, however, have the foresight to understand that the man he wanted to become and the life he wanted to create was dependent on the virtues he lived by, so, he did something very smart...

He created a list of virtues that he thought he needed, and then he created a framework to live by them.
YOU ARE YOUR VIRTUES
I knew I needed the same framework, but I took it a step further. 

I studied and studied, defined the virtues that I thought all men needed to thrive in life, and then created a course by which I would acquire each virtue by winning a challenge.

Men don't learn by theory or being talked at, we win and learn by being challenged.

So, I went through the course, learning and growing and evolving, and my business started growing and evolving.

I started becoming the guy I'd always wanted to become.
As I evolved, as I got stronger and better, my circumstances evolved as well.

As my circumstances changed, I changed my location. I got out of that dingy apartment and went to Italy for 3 months. I came back from Italy with a hell of a lot more money than when I left, too, because I was living by a new standard.

Average was gone. Mediocrity was killed.

What so few ever realize is that...
WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE IS DEPENDENT 
ON WHO YOU ARE, AND WHO YOU ARE LEANS HEAVILY ON THE VIRTUES YOU LIVE BY
Only a handful of years ago I was living a life led by desires, not virtues.

It saw me squander what I’d earned, give up on what I pursued, set my sights lower than what my true ambitions called me to chase.

And then I read that quote by John Wayne and I knew that ‘the code’ was something I lacked. I didn’t have set-in-stone virtues that guided me through life’s tumultuous waters. I didn’t have something I could go to to set my sails in the right direction.

I mean, I had it in theory, I had the knowledge, but it wasn’t taught to me in a way that branded it into my psyche so as to be looked upon when life threw a curveball.

The course I created for myself ended up pulling me out of that average trap I created for myself.
Since then, it's helped HUNDREDS of other men do the same because it's not a course founded on 'theory', but instead centered around action.

The real world taught me far more than school ever could have.
 
Starting a business was my best teacher. Tribulation and success both showed me how to deal with uncertainty and failure, and the ease that can come after a few year’s work is finally complete and the rewards come through the door.

That’s how men learn.

We learn by being challenged, thrust out of our comfort zone and forced to make decisions that we could otherwise avoid in our daily lives.

That, however, isn’t how most ‘courses’ or programs work. It’s not how articles work or how books work. So while I was researching this code, these virtues to live by whether I was reading Meditations or Thoughts of a Philosophical Fighter Pilot or the Discourses, I knew that to fully appreciate the virtue and imprint it into my Self, I need to accompany it with a challenge.
PART 1: THE 12 VIRTUES
The goal of the 12 Virtues of Manliness isn’t to come out of it with knowledge or theory, but having lived each virtue, having won each challenge, and becoming a better, stronger, more confident man for it.

What’s great is that it doesn’t matter where you’re starting, whether you’re a Green Beret or a fella just starting to figure out that there’s a fire in his belly, one that needs to be fuelled.

To say the least, I was a little wary of the program. You see, in November I transitioned from being a Special Forces Operator to my civilian life. Early on in my career I was not an Alpha male, I was THE Alpha male. Through all of the deployments, injuries and the loss of my brothers and family, I had lost myself.

      THE AGOGE: YOUR WORKOUT PROGRAM FOR THE YEAR
      To be at your best, to live out the life you want to leave, you must have strength and skill. A stronger you is a better you.
      A stronger you is a more manly you.

      Strength, however, isn’t enough. You need to be in better shape. You need to burn fat so your testosterone levels can thrive. You need to boost your testosterone levels through proper eating and optimal supplementation.

      You need to do all this with a scientific approach, not trying to be optimal by simply walking into the gym and lifting weights.

      Thus, along with the 12 Virtues, we train.

      And just like the 12 Virtues, we use strategy, we’re not throwing darts in the dark with your workouts, we’re getting tougher, leaner, and stronger with each gym session.

      We train using a mathematical approach that takes your strength on all exercises right now, and uses percentages and specific weights in every workout to maximize your results.

      The gym is the perfect place to get tougher, to push through pain, to push yourself and extend who you are and what you can endure as a man. But results are king.

      So, we’re using what’s been shown to be by far the best, most scientific training method around, while throwing in month-long sessions where we focus only on your weak points, or the areas in your physique where you want to improve the most.

      The training system is called Daily Undulating Periodization, or DUP.

      A few ways it pushes you in the gym to do more an be more:
      1. I show you how to calculate your 1RM without actually having to lift your 1 rep max (the heaviest you can lift for 1 rep) in all of your exercises.
      This gives you a number that we can then base your workouts on. We know, through math, what you should then be lifting for 8 reps of your squat, for example.

      This is incredibly powerful because you now have to live up to how strong you should be.
      EVERY SET BECOMES A TEST, A CHALLENGE THAT YOU HAVE TO LIVE UP TO
      You’re not guessing what weight you should use, but instead you know specifically what you should lift, so if you’re being a little bitch there’s nowhere to hide.
      2. You’re not constantly lifting ‘heavy’, that’s where the undulating part comes in.
      You’re constantly changing your reps and sets while always having them in relation to that 1RM we figure out during the first week of your training.
       
      This forces growth, both in strength and in muscle gains, which is insanely important for fat loss as well (in your fight to burn fat, muscle is easily your best friend as its incredibly metabolic and anabolic).
      3. We also focus on conditioning and spend a couple months on specific body parts.
      A 3-month program is useless.

      It’s not ‘useless’, but to go from one strategy to another 4 times within a year isn’t going to get you the results you want.

      To spend a year of your life on a singular goal shows GRIT.

      Grit is persistence over a period of time without flip flopping from one thing to another. This aspect is more of a plea.

      Stop avoiding success. Stop being scared of sticking to one thing over a long enough period that you’ll see success.
